Since 2019, Tscherning has been involved in the construction and urban development of Køge Nord. Sewerage, rainwater and wastewater management are part of the tasks for Tscherning, which among other things has established 'Det Grønne Strøg'; a collection of innovative rainwater basins near Køge Nord Station.
In Køge Nord, Tscherning , together with KLAR Forsyning, is taking another step in developing and creating intelligent rainwater solutions.
"We have established a project group with a broad range of expertise. In order to create innovative solutions and think outside the box, early involvement in the projects and trust in each other are key," says Hans Henrik Larsen from Tscherning, and he elaborates:
"The collaboration shows that we have the will to create the most project for the money."
Basin that cleans rainwater
One of the solutions that Tscherning has been involved in at Køge Nord Station is the five series-connected rainwater basins; The Green Strait, which is constructed with a special treatment function so that rainwater and surface water is cleaned before being discharged into the river.
"The basins are made up of fine filter layers that drain and clarify the water. At the bottom of the basins we have planted plants that can withstand flooding and that also extract nutrients from the rainwater. The plants are mowed every year and removed so that the unwanted nutrients are not washed into the river," explains Hans Henrik Larsen.
Stage three underway
Stage three of the construction work in Køge North includes wetlands and an impoundment basin south of Egedes vej, as well as sewerage of future housing at Kapelvej in Ølsemagle. In connection with the design of the wetlands, 120,000 m3 of soil will be handled.
Tscherning reduces the impact of CO2
The innovative and green solutions are supported by the choice of materials, such as plastic pipes, which reduce CO2 emissions. In addition, Tscherning carefully adapts the choice of machines to the task at hand to minimize CO2 emissions. These initiatives are in line with the fact that CEO Søren Tscherning won the Theme of the Year Award at the National Award for Owner Manager of the Year 2023 for his focus on green transformation, sustainability and circular economy.
