Environmental remediation is one of our core competencies
We define environmental remediation as "the removal of health-damaging and environmentally hazardous substances in order to improve the environment". We have dealt with this for several decades, and it is an area that we are constantly developing in Tscherning. We are triple certified within Quality, Environment and Working Environment (KMA), we are a member of the Asbestos Association, and we actively collaborate with e.g. SBI and Technological Institute and industry associations in the area.
It is by now generally known that there are environmentally hazardous and health-damaging substances in all building parts and installations. Particularly many of these substances can be found in buildings constructed or renovated in the period 1955-1980, but also from more recent times. At Tscherning, we are experts in remediation, and we have extensive experience in handling all kinds of environmentally harmful substances, from the common ones, such as asbestos, lead, PCBs and mould, and the more rare occurrences such as chlorinated paraffins, viruses, mercury and radioactive material .
We are always at the forefront of the latest new technologies and methods. We have a highly specialized machine park and are at the forefront when it comes to developing technologies and methods that can improve quality, the environment and the working environment, including robotics.
As a starting point, we believe that environmentally harmful substances must always be removed before other craftsmen and contractors gain access to the affected buildings, as this can prevent accidental or unfortunate pollution episodes.
At Tscherning, a holistic solution typically includes the following:

- Detailed planning
- Authority permits
- Encapsulation of the work area
- Establishment of safety and health measures
- Handling of hazardous waste
- Reporting
- Execution control
- Registration, quality assurance and documentation and possible subsequent re-establishment
Our employees perform individual specialist services, including:
- Screening of buildings and installations as well as sampling for analysis
- Action plans and planning of retail tasks
- Obtaining authority and environmental permits and reporting to authorities
- Carrying out environmental remediation and contract management
- Follow-up, evaluation, report and documentation
- Re-establishment and apartment works
All of our hazardous waste workers have completed the statutory courses and are specially trained for the tasks we carry out. At the same time, we have all the necessary equipment to ensure the protection of our employees and the environment, and we always have access to clean air in protective suits and excavators – regardless of the substances we work with.
At our own Tscherning Academy, we collaborate with the local AMU training centers to ensure that our employees have full knowledge of the working environment in which they work.
We always carry out remediation in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Danish Asbestos Association's and the Norwegian Working Environment Authority's guidelines for the removal of hazardous substances and in close cooperation with the relevant authorities. We always end the tasks by documenting our work.
