MG Park, Malmö

Belgian MG-Group is carrying out several large projects at the port of Malmö, and Tscherning is handling the site preparation for the buildings and paving. The largest of the three projects consists of 40,000 m2 of buildings, and Tscherning is well underway with project number two of three.

Such site development projects are among Tscherning Anlæg's core competencies, and we are involved early in the process to optimize solutions in the project.

Tscherning has previously built MG Park in Greve for the same client, and the good experiences of early involvement to optimize solutions in the site development project have been taken forward in this project. We are therefore sitting at the table and qualifying the contract's subtasks.

As in Greve, a large arsenal of machinery has been deployed to complete the huge project on time. The team therefore consists of - in addition to the project manager/sewer foreman and foreman - four +14 ton excavators, a dozer, two dump trucks, as well as Tscherning's own civil engineers and Swedish contractors.

Tscherning has carried out site development and established the surrounding area for a 40,000 m2 building. Here, 20,000 m2 of cobbles have been laid. The difference in level has already been established on the site, so all we need to do is build a base course. The soil is not suitable for direct foundations at the Port of Malmö, so we choose to use pile foundations. We are responsible for excavation and base course for the road consisting of crushed rock and landscaping in the form of curbs and green areas. The latter includes the establishment of grass areas and drainage channels, which are open channels that collect surface water directly from the roof and road. The water must be led away from the harbor, which is a flat area, which is why an Ø800 rainwater pipe is established all the way around the building.

The building being constructed in the next project is a 17,000 m2 logistics center, and Tscherning is responsible for fine levelling for the concrete floor inside the building, excavation of piles for cutting and disposal of pile stumps. Conduits and supply lines, including fiber and telephone, will be installed.

The area is a customs area and therefore security fencing must be installed around the entire area, which Tscherning also performs.
