Nauticon project wins sustainability award
Since January 2023, Tscherning has been helping to dismantle parts of the Nauticon building on Sluseholmen. Radiators have been removed and reinstalled, and fixtures such as plasterboard ceilings, cables and electrical installations have been carefully taken down. All with the aim of reusing as much as possible in the renovation of the iconic building.
This work was rewarded in November 2023, when Danica Ejendomme, Søren Jensen, Artelia and Tscherning
were honored for their sustainable efforts at this year's Building Green Copenhagen conference. Together with our partners, we have won 'The Sustainable Element - Solution Award' for making a sustainable difference in the construction industry and helping to make the construction industry greener.
"In collaboration with the client Danica Ejendomme and two consulting engineering firms Søren Jensen and Artelia, we have carefully dismantled materials that can be recycled and used in other buildings. In my opinion, the Nauticon building's transformation is a prime example of recycling materials and promoting circular thinking," says CEO Søren Tscherning, who sees a bright future for transformation opportunities in construction.
Extensive recycling
The award is given to people and products that make a special contribution to a greener and more sustainable construction industry. The jury's motivation states:
"Nauticon won Solution of the Year for their comprehensive recycling approach combined with a clear platform for reselling circular building materials. It is an excellent example of a solution that directly addresses and solves an industry challenge."
The majority of the materials Tscherning dismantled from Nauticon have already been given new life. For example, at Europaplads in Aarhus, where kitchenettes, radiators, cable trays, sockets, ceilings and glass now live in new meeting rooms at Søren Jensen's head office.
This also applies to Tscherning's own headquarters, which is made from around 90% recycled materials. Today, you can find snake winner cabinets, doors and glass dismantled from Nauticon, and several of our meeting room tables are made from the floors of the Sluseholmen project.
